Oracle PL/SQL Developer

Contract - Cape Town
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, implement, and maintain high-quality software solutions aligned to business requirements
• Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and system issues effectively
• Optimise existing applications and codebases for improved performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions
• Develop and maintain integrations using APIs, web services, and messaging technologies
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and secure development principles
• Conduct unit testing and support test automation initiatives
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, QA teams, and IT Operations to deliver successful solutions
• Document technical specifications, development processes, and system enhancements
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
• Mentor and support junior developers through knowledge sharing and technical guidance
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technology innovation within the team
Qualifications & Experience
• Relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in software development within enterprise environments
• Strong experience in:
• Oracle Forms
• Oracle PL/SQL
• XML, SOAP, WCF, RESTful APIs
• HTML5, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, PHP
• Database development and Message Queues
• Azure DevOps, GIT, and AWS Web Services
• Solid relational database management systems (RDBMS) experience including Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Exposure to MS SQL Server and MySQL would be advantageous
• Experience working within Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps environments
• FinTech industry experience advantageous
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, optimise, and maintain complex software systems
• Experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives
