Senior Accountant

Contract - Bellville
Responsibilities:
• Manage month-end accounting processes, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
• Perform accurate balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding reconciling items.
• Ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with company policies and controls.
• Support payroll reconciliations and related finance administration activities.
• Prepare VAT reconciliations and assist with VAT submissions.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, supporting documentation, and audit trails.
• Assist with day-to-day finance operations and ad hoc accounting requirements.
• Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Develop reporting schedules and reconciliations to support business performance analysis.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
• Conduct cost analysis and identify key cost drivers within the business.
• Support financial modelling and provide ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Oversee payment processing activities, ensuring compliance with approval frameworks and financial controls.
• Verify invoices, reconciliations, and supporting documentation prior to payment.
• Conduct payment validation checks and ensure accurate payment matching.
• Maintain strong internal controls and identify areas for control enhancement.
• Support annual audit planning and execution activities.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor queries.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, tax legislation, financial regulations, and company policies.
• Identify risks, discrepancies, and control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
• Contribute to the enhancement of finance systems and reporting processes.
• Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain the integrity of financial data and reporting systems.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and control.
• Collaborate with operational and leadership teams to support business objectives.
• Build effective working relationships across departments.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related financial discipline.
• Professional accounting designation (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA, ACCA, or similar) will be advantageous.
• Valid South African work authorization.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Accounting or Senior Accounting role.
• Strong hands-on experience with month-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, management accounts, and financial analysis.
• Experience supporting internal and external audit processes.
• Strong understanding of VAT, taxation principles, financial controls, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management will be advantageous.
• Previous experience within a fast-paced, high-growth, or platform-based business environment is advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in process improvement and finance system optimisation.
