Responsibilities
• Manage month-end collections and achieve collection targets in line with company objectives.
• Ensure accurate and timely debtor reconciliations to support the payment collection process.
• Prepare and distribute monthly invoices and statements to facilitate prompt customer payments.
• Conduct credit vetting and provide recommendations regarding customer credit risk.
• Maintain and update debtor account records accurately and timeously.
• Investigate and resolve account queries, proof of delivery (POD) requests, credit notes, and related discrepancies.
• Allocate customer payments accurately from bank statements to debtor accounts.
• Monitor overdue accounts and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Maintain accurate filing and record-keeping of all debtor-related documentation.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to ensure effective debt recovery.
• Escalate problematic accounts and recommend appropriate actions where necessary.
• Support the finance team with reporting and debtor management activities.
Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma in Credit Management (Levels 1–4) or an equivalent finance-related qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Credit Control and Debtors Management.
• Previous experience within the FMCG sector is advantageous.
• Proven experience managing large debtor books and credit control processes.
• Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, collections, reconciliations, and debtor management.
• Experience working with ERP and accounting systems such as SAP, Syspro, or Pastel.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of credit legislation, financial controls, and industry best practices.
