Intermediate Project Manager

Contract - Cape Town
Qualifications & Experience 
• IT Degree or Diploma.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or another recognised Project Management certification.
• 5–8 years’ experience within the IT industry, including at least 5 years’ experience in software development.
• Strong understanding and practical experience of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from business concept through to deployment.
• Proven experience applying industry-standard Project Management methodologies, particularly Agile and Waterfall.
• Strong experience working within an Agile environment, with Scrum methodology experience highly advantageous.
• Experience using JIRA and Confluence; JIRA Portfolio experience would be advantageous.
• Experience working with stakeholders across different organisational levels and divisions, including onshore and offshore teams, both remotely and face-to-face.
• Experience within the Financial Services or Insurance industry will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of project planning, execution, reporting, risk management, resource allocation and budget management.
• Sound knowledge of business, systems and processes, with the ability to understand and assess architectural considerations and their impact on projects.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans covering scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, resources and budgets.
• Lead project teams to ensure successful delivery of projects within agreed timelines, scope and budget.
• Track project progress, milestones, dependencies and deliverables.
• Identify project issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients and third-party vendors.
• Provide clear and timely communication on project progress, risks, issues and dependencies.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Plan and allocate resources effectively across project activities.
• Coordinate with management to ensure the appropriate skills and resources are assigned.
• Identify and resolve resource conflicts and project-related challenges.
• Identify, assess and proactively manage project risks.
• Develop and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor emerging risks and adjust project plans where required.
• Ensure project deliverables meet agreed quality standards and business requirements.
• Implement appropriate quality assurance processes.
• Monitor project outcomes and ensure customer expectations are met.
• Develop, monitor and manage project budgets.
• Track expenditure and ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and improved efficiency.
• Lead, motivate and guide project teams towards achieving project objectives.

• Provide feedback and support to team members where required.
• Foster and support Agile ways of working and Scrum practices.
